Nikkei Ends At 3-Week High On Overseas Gains
TOKYO (NQN)--Tokyo stocks rebounded Monday, with the Nikkei Stock Average jumping 132.03 points, or 0.9%, to end the day at 14,693.57, the highest point since Sept. 27.
Gains on overseas markets on Friday and bullish sentiment in China and other Asian countries made investors less risk-averse, pushing up blue chips.
With many major Japanese companies set to release their April-September results, investors were buying stocks of companies with strong earnings forecasts. Some market players, however, appeared cautious ahead of Tuesday's release of U.S. jobs data for September.
The preliminary trading value on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange was the fifth smallest this year.
