DMG Mori Seiki Finishes Up Plant In Tianjin
TIANJIN, China (Nikkei)--Major machine tool manufacturer DMG Mori Seiki Co. (6141), formerly Mori Seiki Co., marked the completion of a new plant here in a ceremony Friday.
The Japanese company and DMG Mori Seiki AG, the German firm formerly known as Gildemeister, adopted a common corporate identity this year ahead of a pending management integration. While the German company already has a Shanghai plant, this is the first Chinese factory for the Japanese firm.
DMG Mori Seiki President Masahiko Mori used the ceremony to announce plans for achieving annual output of 600 units by fiscal 2016.
The Tianjin facility marks the third overseas production base for the Japanese company, following up on a California plant opened last year. It boasts a monthly output capacity of 100 units but will initially produce five machining centers a month.
