Nikkei Steady But Top Heavy On Profit-Taking
TOKYO (NQN)--Tokyo stocks are moving in a tight range at the start of afternoon trading Thursday, with the Nikkei Stock Average rising about 150 points to hover around the lower-14,600 line. The figure is slightly below the morning session's close of 14,636.
Although it is now certain that the U.S. will avoid a debt default, the dollar's rise has paused at around the mid-98 yen range, capping the upside of exporters. The benchmark index rose for six days through Wednesday, which is prompting investors to continue selling blue chips to lock in gains.
