Nikkei Opens Sharply Higher On Wall St Gains
TOKYO (NQN)--Tokyo stocks jumped at the open Thursday, with the Nikkei Stock Average up 172 points to begin the day at 14,640.
After the Senate agreed on a deal to allow the U.S. government to issue bonds until February, the Dow Jones industrial average closed sharply higher overnight. The buying momentum is carrying over to Tokyo investors.
The dollar's rise to the 99 yen range is also prompting buying of exporters.
