Nikkei Opens Higher On Dow's Rise, Stable Dlr-Yen Rates
TOKYO (NQN)--Tokyo stocks opened higher Thursday, with the Nikkei Stock Average climbing 59 points to begin the day around 14,100.
Overnight slight gains in the Dow Jones industrial average and the dollar's leveling off in the mid-97 yen range prompting stock buying, with carmakers and other blue chips rising slightly across the board. Fast Retailing Co. (9983), which has a big impact on the Nikkei average, is also performing solidly, pushing up the index.
