Mori Trust Group Offers Peek At Rebranded Tokyo Marriott
TOKYO (Nikkei)--Mori Trust Co.'s hotel management subsidiary, Mori Trust Hotels & Resorts Co., on Thursday provided a sneak peek of the remodeled and rebranded Tokyo Marriott Hotel, which will open on Dec. 3.
The hotel has a total of 249 guest rooms decorated to exude a Japanese atmosphere. The rooms have 38 sq. meters of floor space on average, spacious enough to be comfortable even for foreigners with larger physiques. Wedding facilities have also been added in the remodeling, which cost 6-7 billion yen.
Nearly the entire building, which was previously operated as Hotel Laforet Tokyo, has been made over. By rebranding it with the Marriott name, the aim is to attract more business guests from overseas and increase the percentage of foreign visitors to 40% from 20%. Rooms are expected to average 20,000 yen to 22,000 yen per night.
The hotel's general manager, Kenji Fukunaga, is enthusiastic about capitalizing on the facility's proximity to Haneda Airport and Shinagawa Station.
