Yonex To Sell Tennis Shoes With Laces That Stay In Place
TOKYO (NQN)--Yonex Co. (7906) will start selling tennis shoes with unconventional quick-release laces on Friday.
The Power Cushion Wide 2002 and 1002 models feature dials attached near the ankle to tighten or loosen the laces and a hook-shaped Easy Tab to quickly loosen them in one motion. The shoes are 50 grams lighter than previous models thanks to newly developed material used around the soles.
The company also used its self-developed Power Cushion material for the soles to absorb shock. An egg dropped from a height of 7 meters onto a cushion made of the material will not break, instead bouncing back up more than 4 meters.
The shoes will retail for 17,850 yen. The 2002 model is black with wine-red accents and are suitable for artificial turf, concrete and other types of tennis courts. The 1002 model is white with purple accents and is good for tennis courts made of clay and artificial turf.
