Kubota To Open 'Kaizen' Center At U.S. Plant
OSAKA (Nikkei)--Kubota Corp. (6326) will set up training centers at production sites abroad to help enhance efficiency on factory floors.
The move is aimed at promoting the concept of "kaizen," or a commitment to continuous improvement.
The first such center will debut on the premises of a tractor factory in the U.S. state of Georgia next April. More will open in China, Thailand and elsewhere.
A group of 10 workers at a time will participate in a roughly five-month training session to learn, through engine parts assembly and other processes, how to reduce work time and improve yield rates. Instructors will be local employees who have undergone special training in Japan.
