Japan's Biggest Motorcycle Show Opens In Tokyo
TOKYO (Nikkei)--The Tokyo Motorcycle Show kicked off on Friday, with the nation's largest exhibition of its kind aiming to attract 100,000 visitors over its three-day run.
Honda Motor Co. (7267) is displaying 12 new models at the Tokyo Big Sight convention center, with a focus on imported scooters. Because the scooters are shipped from Thailand and China, prices will be set later based on exchange rates, according to the company. They are slated to go on sale by the summer.
Yamaha Motor Co. (7272) unveiled three large motorcycles due for release by year-end, including a 950cc model currently offered in North America. This would mark the company's first launch of a large motorbike in Japan since the 2008 global financial crisis.
