White Goods Shipments Unchanged In Feb

TOKYO (NQN)--Domestic shipments of large home appliances such as air conditioners and refrigerators remained unchanged on the year at 157.34 billion yen in February, the Japan Electrical Manufacturers' Association reported Thursday.

The figure surpassed 142.5 billion yen, which is the average level of February shipments over the past 10 years.

Shipments of air purifiers rose by 47.6% to 11.52 billion yen, due to hayfever concerns related to rising levels of pollen in the air, as well as growing fears about air pollution in China, in the form of particulate matter known as PM2.5.

Air purifier shipments jumped 49.5% in terms of volume to 452,000 units.
