Convenience Store Sales Fall 4.7% On Year In Feb

TOKYO (NQN)--Same-store sales at convenience stores nationwide fell 4.7% on the year to 608.1 billion yen in February, marking the ninth straight month of decline, the Japan Franchise Association reported Thursday.

The decline is attributed to smaller cigarette sales and one fewer day in the month this year, given that the previous year was a leap year.

The number of customers fell 4.4%. Sales per customers slid 0.4%.
