Nikkei Moves Above 12,600 On Solid Asian Markets

TOKYO (NQN)--Tokyo stocks started the Thursday afternoon session higher, with the Nikkei Stock Average jumping about 150 points to trade in the lower-12,600 range.

HSBC's China manufacturing purchasing managers index for March rose on a preliminary basis, pushing up Asian stocks. Tokyo investors are following their lead.

Meanwhile, property-developer issues such as Mitsui Fudosan Co. (8801) and Mitsubishi Estate Co. (8802) are losing further ground ahead of government land-price data to be released after the market close, holding down overall gains in the benchmark index.
