Renesas To Streamline For Speedy Recovery: New President

Tetsuya Tsurumaru

TOKYO (Nikkei)--Renesas Electronics Corp. (6723) will restructure operations ranging from design and development to manufacturing and sales in hopes of making itself a firm that can grow sales in an efficient manner, President Tetsuya Tsurumaru says.

"We'll achieve a revival by enhancing business efficiency and improving earnings quickly," Tsurumaru told reporters Thursday. The former Hitachi Ltd. (6501) manager took the helm at Renesas on Feb. 22.

Touching on the prospect of an eighth straight year of net losses, including those of predecessor Renesas Technology Corp., Tsurumaru said that with fast decision-making the company aims to earn the profits it deserves.
