Attendance Rises 43% At Online Brokerage Mutual Fund Seminar

TOKYO (Nikkei)--About 4,600 people attended a mutual fund seminar for individual investors held by four major online brokerages Wednesday in Tokyo. Attendance was up 43% from last year, amid an improving investment environment.

The event, which is in its third year, was organized by SBI Securities Co., Rakuten Securities Inc., Monex Inc. and kabu.com Securities Co. (8703).

One attendee said that he "trades Japanese shares online, but wants to buy mutual funds that invest in stock from the Philippines and other developing countries."
