Same-Store Sales At Dept Stores Rise 0.3% On Year In Feb

TOKYO (NQN)--Same-store sales at department stores nationwide rose 0.3% on the year in February, marking the second straight monthly increase, the Japan Department Stores Association reported Tuesday.

Art and jewelry sales jumped 8.6%, while sales of women's clothes and accessories fell 1.7%.

Sales at all stores totaled 431.4 billion yen.

Sales at department stores in the Tokyo metropolitan area totaled 108.2 billion yen last month, with same-store sales rising 2.5% and marking the second straight month of increases.
