Koshidaka Hldgs To Pay Y30,000 Bonus For Nonsmokers

TOKYO (NQN)--Koshidaka Holdings Co. (2157) said Monday it will create a bonus for employees who do not smoke, starting with this month's bonus.

In order to be eligible for the payments, Koshidaka's permanent employees must voluntarily report to the company they did not smoke at all the six-month bonus calculation period. The company, which operates karaoke shops and fitness clubs for women, will pay a 5,000 yen a month incentive if the report is approved. Koshidaka will pay 30,000 yen every six months to nonsmokers, along with their regular bonuses.

Other companies have offered financial incentives to people who quit smoking, but Koshidaka is rare in rewarding employees who have never lit up.
