Nikkei Tops 12,300; Property Developers Surge On Hope For Govt Policies

TOKYO (NQN)--Tokyo stocks were widening their gains at the opening of the afternoon session Thursday, with the Nikkei Stock Average climbing about 70 points to trade at the lower-12,300 level.

Property developers are rising further on expectations for government policies to improve the Japanese economy. Also pushing up the benchmark index is the dollar's appreciation to nearly 96 yen.
