Nikkei Ends Lower On Profit-Taking After 8-Day Climb
TOKYO (NQN)--Tokyo stocks ended lower for the first time in nine trading days Tuesday, with the Nikkei Stock Average sliding 34.24 points, or 0.28%, to close at 12,314.81.
The Dow Jones industrial average hit an all-time high overnight and the yen weakened further, pushing up the benchmark Nikkei average to the upper-12,400 range at one point. However, the index fell into the red at times as investors sold stocks to lock in gains from the nearly 1,100-point surge over the eight trading days through Monday.
