Nikkei Hits 4.5-Yr High On Weaker Yen

TOKYO (NQN)--Tokyo stocks continued higher into the eighth straight trading day Monday, with the Nikkei Stock Average jumping 112.93 points, or 0.92%, to end the morning session at 12,396.55.

The benchmark index rose to its highest level during trading hours since Sept. 10, 2008.

Investors were buying stocks in response to the yen's further decline after the Dow Jones industrial average hit a record high Friday. More than 80% of the stocks listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange advanced.
