Nikkei Tops 12,100 As Greenback Rises Vs Yen

TOKYO (NQN)--Tokyo stocks opened higher Friday, with the Nikkei Stock Average rising 98 points to start the day at 12,066.

The benchmark index briefly rose more than 100 points to top 12,100. The dollar rose to the lower 95 yen level on expectations that the U.S. economy will recover and Japan will implement monetary easing measures. This prompted investors to buy shares of exporters, including Sony Corp. (6758) and Nissan Motor Co. (7201).
