Messi's 'Golden Foot' Available In Gold
TOKYO (Nikkei)--Jeweler Ginza Tanaka will release three pure gold products Thursday embodying the shape of Argentinian soccer player Lionel Messi's dominating left foot.
The Golden Foot, a life-size object made of 25kg of gold, will be 486.5 million yen. A half-size version containing 100g of gold is priced at 3.89 million yen and comes in a glass case. A gold plate engraved with Messi's footprint uses 300g of gold and will sell for 8.75 million yen. Ginza Tanaka will offer 100 and 50 pieces each of the latter two.
The company hopes to sell the products to soccer fans or affluent customers seeking rare goods. Part of the proceeds will be donated to help areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake via the Messi family's foundation.
