Nikkei Opens Sharply Higher After Dow Hits Record High

TOKYO (NQN)--Tokyo stocks opened significantly higher Wednesday after the Dow Jones industrial average hit a record high overnight, with the Nikkei Stock Average jumping 127 points to surpass 11,800.

The benchmark index easily topped Tuesday's 2012-'13 high.

Less risk-averse investors are aggressively buying stocks, pushing up automakers and other blue-chip exporters across the board. Expectations for more monetary easing steps are also prompting buying of shares in financial institutions and property developers.
