Nikkei Tops '12-13 High On Wall St Gains

TOKYO (NQN)--Tokyo stocks opened higher Tuesday, with the Nikkei Stock Average rising 80 points, or 0.69%, to start the day at 11,732.

The benchmark index topped its 2012-13 high of 11,662.

Wall Street closed higher overnight, with the Dow Jones industrial average approaching a record high on expectations that the U.S. economy will recover and that monetary easing will continue. This positive market sentiment carried over into the Tokyo market.
