Panasonic Unveils Household LED Lighting Panels

OSAKA (Nikkei)--Panasonic Corp. (6752) said Tuesday that it will release a new series of home LED lighting products that feature panels with even illumination from corner to corner.

Panasonic will offer 33 models, with prices ranging from 15,540 yen to 35,700 yen, starting April 21. It targets sales of 900 million yen from the new lineup of LED panel light fixtures in fiscal 2013.

Plates over the LEDs reflect light sideways, and the light is diffused so that the entire panel, including the edges, emits light. The softer light is expected to be welcomed by seniors bothered by glare.

The company has been ramping up sales of LED lighting. By fiscal 2015, it plans to use LEDs in all of its new lighting fixtures.
