Nikkei Ends Sharply Higher On Wall St Gains
TOKYO (NQN)--Tokyo stocks rebounded sharply Thursday in response to Wall Street gains overnight, with the Nikkei Stock Average soaring 305.39 points, or 2.71%, to end the day at 11,559.36.
On a monthly basis, the benchmark index continued to rise for the seventh straight month, for the first time since the period between May 2005 and January 2006. At that time, expectations for reforms were high under the government of then Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.
Italy's successful bond auction overnight also prompted investors to buy Japanese stocks.
