DJ: Fennovoima In Talks with Toshiba, Mulls Nuclear Reactor Options

Finnish nuclear power consortium Fennovoima Oyj said Monday it will start direct talks with Japanese Toshiba (6502) over a 1,600 megawatt nuclear reactor, while conducting a feasibility study for building a mid-sized power plant.

Fennovoima will launch immediately direct talks with Toshiba which has offered its 1,600 MW boiling water reactor EU-ABWR for Fennovoima's new nuclear power plant to be built on the shore of Gulf of Bothnia.

Fennovoima will also assess whether a mid-sized plant option would be feasible for the company. In addition to Toshiba, French Areva S.A. and Russian Rosatom are considered as suppliers.
