TOKYO (NQN)--Domestic shipments of refrigerators, air conditioners and other large home appliances fell 0.8% on the year in January to 131.48 billion yen, the third highest level over the past decade.
Shipments fell for the first time in two months, but topped the 130 billion yen line for the third straight year, due to the popularity of energy-efficient home appliances.
Shipments of air conditioners fell 1.4% by value to 31.45 billion yen. But shipments remained relatively flat in terms of volume, edging down a modest 0.3%. Shipments of fridges and washing machines rose on the year by value and volume.
