Nikkei Ends Lower On Profit-Taking; Trading Value Lowest In '13
TOKYO (NQN)--Tokyo shares ended slightly lower Tuesday, with the benchmark Nikkei Stock Average falling 35.53 points, or 0.31%, to close at 11,372.34.
The key index jumped 234 points the previous day, prompting many investors to lock in their gains. The yen's rise against the dollar also prompted profit-taking.
But the downside was limited by expectations that share prices will rise over the longer term. The broader Topix index moved slightly higher.
The trading value on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange was 1.68 trillion yen, the lowest this year.
