June Industrial Output Falls 1.5% On Month

TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Japanese industrial production fell a seasonally adjusted 1.5% in June from the previous month, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry said Friday, due in part to a decline in output of automobiles as well as electronic devices.

The finding was worse than the median 0.1% rise forecast by economists in a Dow Jones Newswires and Nikkei survey.

The result was also the first decline in four months after output increased 0.1% in May.

Manufacturers polled by the ministry expect their production to fall 0.2% in July and increase 2.0% in August.
