Olympus To Remain Part Of Nikkei 225 For Now

TOKYO (Nikkei)--Olympus Corp. (7733) will remain a component of the Nikkei Stock Average for the time being, Nikkei Inc. said Thursday, responding to the Tokyo Stock Exchange's placement of Olympus on its watch list for delisting.

A decision will be made on whether to replace Olympus as one of the 225 components of Japan's benchmark stock index based on a comprehensive assessment of the situation, including the company's earnings disclosures.

The same approach will be taken with regard to the Nikkei 300 and Nikkei 500 stock indexes.

Under Nikkei's rules for adding and removing component stocks, a stock placed on supervisory watch by the TSE is in principle a candidate for deletion.
